I had a shot at summarizing the article, but it got a bit involved. Highly recommend you read it yourself. The key takeaway seems to be that despite the sweeping, idealistic note Obama has sounded on the campaign trail, most of his policy positions are in fact strongly pragmatic.

Not So Lite After All

I'm not so surprised by the pragmatism of Obama. You don't find many idealist among those who've worked at the ground level so to speak. They understand the realities and limits.
